Q: How long does a service take?

In the majority of cases, you can drop your vehicle off in the morning and pick it up late afternoon.

Q: What if I'm unsure about some BMW coding options?

Chances are you will want them, but, of course, we can both discuss these or they can be enabled for testing. All BMW Coding we undertake is 100% reversible.

Q: Will BMW Coding avoid my warranty?

No. We use 100% factory tools and to the dealer it looks like your vehicle left the showroom floor already equipped.

Q: Is there a charge for an MOT retest?

We offer a FREE 10 day retest. An explanation of retest fees can be found on the DVSA’s website: www.gov.uk/getting-an-mot/retests .

Q: What happens if my vehicle fails its MOT?

If your vehicle fails, it must be repaired and retested. You cannot legally drive your vehicle on the road until the repairs have been made and a certificate issued. Most repairs can be carried out onsite at the test centre on the same day, and we will always advise you upfront about any work that needs to be done. Remember, Highview Garage offers FREE MOT retests!

Q: What documents do I need to bring for my MOT?

If your vehicle is undergoing its first MOT then a V5C vehicle registration certificate (log book) is required, this document is also required if your vehicle has had a change of registration plate since its last MOT. In all other instances no documentation is required.

Q: What can do to make sure my vehicle passes its MOT?

Many failures we see every day could be prevented by drivers carrying out some simple checks before bringing their vehicle in. Common avoidable faults include light bulbs, tyre condition and pressure, mirrors, wipers and washers. See our tips on how to make sure your car passes its MOT first time.

Q: What's checked during an MOT?

The test is designed to ensure that your vehicle meets road safety and environmental standards. See our Advice Centre for the full checklist. You should be aware that the MOT certificate is not a guarantee of the general mechanical condition of your car – you should have your car serviced regularly to maintain its mechanical condition. Should your vehicle need a little help to pass the test, you can rest assured that almost all repairs can be carried out on site on the same day. Any repairs and charges will be notified to you upfront, so no nasty surprises!
