Car Air Conditioning 101

A few essential tips can prove very useful in maintaining ideal car temperatures, whatever the conditions. See below for our quick tips on keeping your car not too hot, not too cold, but just right:

  • Don’t forget the windows. If you want to receive the full benefit of your car’s air-con on a hot day, don’t forget to keep your windows firmly closed. If you don’t, you’ll be sending all that cool air outside rather than keeping it where you need it on the inside.
  • Regularly re-gas. Your car’s air-con will need to have its coolant levels maintained. In most cases, you should organise a re-gas, or recharge, every two years or so, but check your car handbook on this. When you bring your car in for a recharge, we’ll also make sure that there are no coolant leaks.
  • Have a clean machine. Pollutants can build up in the air-con system over time, which you may notice by its smell. Aside from the usual cleaning that you perform on your car’s interior, an air-con clean can help ensure no bacteria and no unpleasant smells.
